Again and again, researchers of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes are honoured with prizes in their specialist fields.

For example, a group of researchers involved with the LBI for Osteology under the management of University Professor Dr. Klaus Klaushofer and University Professor Dr. Herwig Peterlik of the University of Vienna were recently awarded the renowned Copp Prize 2007 of the German Society of Osteology.

In January 2007, at the Second German, Austrian and Swiss Cardiovascular Research Conference, the “Carl S. Apstein Prize” for research into chronic heart failure was awarded to a team led by Dr. Karola Trescher, further researchers and Cluster Coordinator and University Lecturer Dr. Bruno K. Podesser.

Dr. Wilhelm Hemecker, Head of the Institute for the History and Theory of Biography, was elected as a By-Fellow of Churchill College of the University of Cambridge and can thus carry out research at this renowned establishment.

University Professor DDr. Peter Fischer and Dr.Mag. Susanne Jungwirth of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Age Research were awarded the prize for “Brain research in Geriatrics”, which was sponsored by the University of Witten (Germany), for their work.
