The primary purpose of the non-profit-making association is to set up and run LBIs and clusters according to the association’s statutes. In order to take into account the character of modern research sponsors which is increasingly determined by economic considerations, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft set up a non-profit-making company with limited liability in 2004, Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft GmbH. The limited company is 100% owned by the association. The limited company is bound by the objects of the association and also fulfils its tasks through the sponsorship of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes founded on the basis of calls for proposals.
