The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft obtains basic grants from the following institutions:

• Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research: EUR 3.6 million p.a.
• Nationalstiftung für Forschung, Technology und Entwicklung (national foundation for 
  research, technology and development): EUR 2.5 million p.a.,
• Vienna City Council: EUR 1 million p.a.

Further finance providers are the institutional partner organisations of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes. In the case of the LBIs set up through calls for proposals, 60% of the costs are borne by the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft und 40% by the institutional partner organisations of the respective Institute. Around 50% of the total budget of the LBG comes from basic grants and around 50% comes from the institutional partners and third party resources (EU grants, projects funded by the FWF - Austrian Science Fund, etc.).
